Introduction to Blender
Where and When?
There will be a workshop session called "Introduction to Blender" on the 15th of December 2016.
It will be at 8pm at the Hackspace. (Directions)
Anyone is welcome to join us, You don't need to be a member to attend. If you aren't a member, we'd really appreciate it if you left a donation after the workshop. You don't have to, the workshop is free! but if you got something out of the workshop, you can thank us by supporting us.
What will be covered?
The workshop will cover the basics of using blender. By the end of the workshop you will be able to make some simple objects, apply colours and textures, animate them and render them into a finished video.
The workshop will probably cover these features in approximately this order:
- basic concepts
- modeling
- textures and lighting
- rigging (armatures)
- animation
- basic physics simulation (including particle engines)
What will I need to bring along?
- Enthusiasm
- A laptop running a recent version of blender
- Optionally; A three button mouse, if you don't want to have to put up with a laptop trackpad
- Optionally; A numpad, if your laptop keyboard doesn't have one, to make it easier to access some shortcuts in blender
Any version of blender that's 2.5 or later should be fine, but the demo will use 2.76. So if you can have at least that version, that'd be great.
I have a question! Who do I ask?
